Ndounfon Rafiatou Njoya

Rafiatou holds an LLB and an LLM from the University of Buea, and a joint Master’s degree in business law and contemporary Chinese studies from the Silk Road School of Renmin, University of China.

After completing her legal studies, Rafiatou worked within the legal departments of several corporates, including the Port Authority of Kribi, Chenshia Group (Ppty) Ltd, Mondo Internationazionale, and the Kribi Highway Management Co. Ltd.

Part of Rafiatou’s work within the different corporations that she has worked in has involved responding to legal notices from third parties, researching, analysing, and identifying important issues and providing legal advice to management, negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contracts and any legal document as required, reviewing contractual payments for contracted suppliers, attending meetings, where necessary, taking minutes, drafting agreements and responding to letters and notices.

Rafiatou’s work has also included documenting all reported accidents/incident on the highway, collecting and cataloguing all evidences available in relation to reported accidents and incidents, collecting, compiling and sending files to insurance companies for claims, follow up with insurance company and experts to ensure claims are handled expeditiously, guiding the establishment of contract recording and ensuring proper management, drafting legal procedural reports for the management of accidents/incidents on the highway and insurance recovery procedures, working in collaboration with external judicial bodies such as police, bailiff and court in the management of accident /incident on the highway, preparing weekly and annual report, handling insurance affairs related to the company such as insurance coverage, renewals and claims, upon request, provide support to other department seeking to enter into arrangements on behalf of the company, upon request collect, compile and review annual reports of the company, screen calls and communicate with third parties, etc.

Within the law firm, Rafiatou is in charge of conducting legal research, analysing and identifying legal issues and advising clients, she assists investors with company registration at the companies registry, obtaining private investment incentives, and with guidance on tax law, and commercial law. Rafiatou also assists in the attendance of court hearings, drafts court pleadings, she interviews and consults with clients of the firm, etc.

Rafiatou first joined the law firm in September 2022. She is currently preparing to sit the Cameroon Bar exams and qualify as a pupil lawyer.
