Academic Background

Rodrigue holds an LLB degree as well as an LLM degree in legal practice from the University of Dschang, Cameroon, one of the foremost universities in Cameroon.

Professional Qualifications

On June 21, 2024, Rodrigue passed the Cameroon Bar Association’s pupillage entrance exams and took the oath of the profession before the High Court of Douala on September 13, 2024.

Prior to this, Rodrigue obtained various legal training certifications including in commercial practice, commercial leasing, legal practice skills, securities law, and the bank lending under OHADA law.

Legal Professional Experience

From March 2022 until he joined Dayspring Law Firm in September 2024, Rodrigue was General Counsel for Groupe Fokou-Cameroon, a group of thirteen (13) companies leading in the retail and building and construction industries in the sub-region.

Before joining Groupe Fokou, Rodrigue was an associate at a leading practice in the economic city of Bafoussam, in the West region of Cameroon, where he spent almost (14) years.

Some of the legal work that Rodrigue has done in his almost fifteen (15) years of legal professional experience span the management of litigation work, the enforcement of court judgments, labour disputes, negotiation and drafting of commercial contracts, review and preparation of pleadings and court submissions, legal consultation, alternative settlement of disputes, etc.

Representative legal matters

Some of Rodrigue’s flagship legal work includes:

  • Participated in a team of lawyers who advised, assisted and represented a major power company in the framework of a collective labour dispute instituted by employees (plaintiffs) of the sub-contracting companies of the power company (defendant);
  • Participated in a team of lawyers who assisted, advised and represented a client in the framework of the acquisition of a litigious real property (land) belonging to the Cameroon Real Estate Corporation (SIC);
  • Advised, assisted and represented several leading insurance companies in the framework of litigations relating to insurance claims;
  • Participated in a team of lawyers who advised, assisted and represented a consortium of commercial companies in a legal action challenging the illegal merger of two employers’ unions;
  • Advised, assisted and represented a commercial company in a labour matter before a high court relating to a purported wrongful termination of the employee;
  • Participated in a team of lawyers who assisted and represented the academic coordinating body of a church that was sued by its employees within the framework of a salary dispute;
  • Drafted several hundred emphyteutic lease agreements and professional lease agreements between commercial companies which he represented and third parties with a value of 50 million FCFA to 550 million FCFA;
  • Assisted several commercial companies in drafting building and construction contracts and other service agreements;
  • Assisted and advised commercial companies and investors in the drafting of investment and business partnership contracts;
  • Represented commercial companies in its negotiations with building and construction companies and other actors of that industry in the construction and development of commercial and residential properties;
  • Preparation and drafting of supplier contracts and distribution contracts with supermarkets and other distributors in the agro-food sector ;
  • Drafting of contracts between an iron mining and production company and various environmental impact firms for preliminary impact studies to obtain state permits;
  • Drafting of wine distribution contracts with supermarkets and large retail outlets;
  • Advised commercial companies on copyrights and related rights, especially concerning the exploitation of protected works;
