Helga is a partner of the firm and heads its litigation, ADR and civil law practice. She also regularly lends her assistance to the business and tax law practice and the banking and financial law practice of the firm. She has over twenty (20) years of legal professional experience and has been a member of the Cameroon Bar Association since 2008.

Before joining DLF, she worked in two other recognized firms where she regularly advised and assisted major banks, micro-finance institutions, national and sub-national state entities, and corporations to prepare commercial contracts, recover debts, restructure, and prepare and prosecute litigation before all types of jurisdictions in Cameroon, the CEMAC zone and the Common Court of Justice and Arbitration, etc.

Helga is a seasoned litigator in civil, commercial, labour and administrative matters, having consistently prosecuted hundreds of such matters in twenty years of professional experience.

Some of Helga’s significant work includes:

  • Assisted a top national bank in the granting of multiple loans to various Cameroonian commercial companies, notably through legal auditing;
  • Assisted and represented of a consortium against a public limited company., in connection with the recovery of a debt of more than FCFA 1 billion;
  • Assisted and represented a top national bank in an action for the recovery of a debt of over FCFA 2 billion owed by top cosmetic brand and others;
  • Assisted and represented a top national bank in the recovery by way of attachment and sale of real property of a debt of more than FCFA 1 billion in the case of Afriland v. Pat Soap;
  • Advising Population Services International in connection with her spinoff from ACMS;
  • Assisted and represented BICEC in the recovery by way of attachment and sale of real property of a debt of more than FCFA 300 million in the case of BICEC v. Nguembu Etienne;
  • Advised a major bank on the legal framework of leasing in Cameroon;
  • Advised Africa Leasing PLC in the granting of leasing facilities, including the negotiation and drafting of leasing contracts;
  • Advised banks on the framework of surety-bonds and in the drafting of model surety bond contracts;
  • Advised the real estate company SCI Evolution Ltd in a property development project with Casanova PLC and a consortium of Turkish investors worth over FCFA 120 billion on 112 hectares of land in the outskirts of Douala.

Helga holds law degrees from the University of Douala (LLM (with honours) in business law, LLM (with honours) in public international law), and an LLB (with honours) in French Civil law.
